“If you aim at nothing, you’ll hit it every time.” This phrase has no doubt been repeated millions of times to challenge people to set goals and to live intentionally with their lives. This of course presents the even bigger question that countless brilliant minds have attempted to answer throughout the ages; why are we here? What is the aim of it all? The truth is, in order to aim your life accordingly, you have to conclude the purpose for which you were created. In other words, before ever throwing the dart, you have to know where your target lies on the board. If you can’t find the bullseye, you’ll never hit what you’re aiming for.
While this may be how billions live their lives, a life of aimless aiming should not define the life of a Christian. God’s Word very clearly and distinctly spells out the purpose of our lives, and just exactly what we are to aim for in this life. As our Creator and Maker, only God is qualified to define the aim of our lives, as He intended it. Only He can designate the reason He created us and the purpose for which He gave us life.
Yet instead of believing God, and aiming at what He has said, more often than not we find terrible targets and bogus bullseyes being set up as the expectation for the lives of saints, even within the church. With so many targets surrounding us, with so many distractions bombarding us, life can easily feel overwhelming and…aimless.
What if we could clearly define the purpose for which we were created? What if we knew exactly what to aim for in this short life we’ve been given? What would it look like to live a life that actually counts for the Kingdom?
Join the NOYC 2025 as we learn what it means to take aim with a ‘Life on Target.'
1 Thes. 5:23-24- “ And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.”
